The project of building (1000) schools throughout Iraq by the Asian investment companies contracting with the Iraqi government is managed by Iraqi authorities, and there are no Asian technical staff in it. This was confirmed by many officials, including the Governor of Diyala, Mr. Muthanna Al-Tamimi, who revealed that an Iraqi person working as a car mechanic obtained a contract to build (12) schools in Diyala Governorate within the aforementioned contract, and that the Asian companies and contracted staff do not exist on the ground. Which raises questions and shows the extent of corruption and neglect in building schools that are supposed to be models, at a time when Iraq needs (12,000) schools to accommodate the number of students, whose number is close to (11) million students. shafaq
After revealing more evidence about the lack of seriousness of the contract concluded with Asian investment companies to build appropriate model schools, NIHR calls on members of the Education Committee in the House of Representatives and the Ministry of Education, in addition to representatives of civil society organizations, to form joint committees that carry out field follow-up of the implementation sites for building these schools. To determine the seriousness of its completion and the conformity of its specifications with the plans included in the contract, as one of the educational infrastructures for our dear students.
