The recording of serious accidents at the work sites of Asian investment companies, the latest of which was the death of an Asian engineer and his assistant in an accident when an iron crane fell on them at the work site of one of the projects implemented in Basra Governorate, is evidence of negligence, lack of attention and weakness in providing safety and security conditions for workers in those companies.

In the wake of these serious incidents, NIHR calls on the relevant regulatory authorities to tighten the necessary control regarding the provision of safety and security conditions for workers within investment companies, especially local workers, and legal accountability against companies that have gaps in safety and security conditions in order to preserve the safety of their employees.
