Banning the import, manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages by the Iraqi parliament’s decision issued in late February, which sparked wide controversy in multiple constituencies, which considered the decision an infringement on Personal freedoms and human rights and contrary to the Constitution, especially Article 14 thereof, in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious homeland.

NIHR expresses its concern about other tendencies of members of society that may have serious consequences after making such decisions, including the use of drugs and psychotropic substances, especially by young people, which was diagnosed as a phenomenon, especially in southern Iraq after the ban on the circulation of alcoholic beverages.
