Environmental pollution has many damages and risks to human health and society, one of the most important causes of which is the environmentally unfriendly emissions resulting from the combustion of oil and gas, in addition to the exhaust of cars, factories, oil refineries, as well as electric power plants and other reasons.

It is unfortunate that Iraq ranks second in the world in environmental pollution as a result of burning 18 billion cubic meters per year of gas.

NIHR, as one of the human rights defenders, calls on the relevant government agencies to work hard and take measures to address this problem, and to adopt modern environmentally friendly technological methods to mitigate additional health disasters and limit their exacerbation in order to preserve the health of the Iraqi society.
